Yes it's true, there are usually a few offers around for a credit card with a 0% interest rate as an introductory promotion to get you to use that companies credit card. Usually the 0% promotion rate will last for 6 months at a 0% rate and then revert back to the normal interest rate after then. Of course if you are clever and choose a credit card with 0% interest on balance transfers then you can transfer your balance to this card and then pay no interest for 6 months and then transfer it to another credit card with 0% interest on balance transfers and still pay 0% interest.
Of course the credit card companies don't want you to do this, but competition is so fierce amongst credit card companies that it is in their interest to offer a credit card 0% promotion rate for the first 6 months.
